wooden steamer

The moisture content changes drastically as the steamer is being used; the non-isotropic expansion of the wood must be addressed. Therefore, wood glue cannot be used. This traditional Taiwanese Hakka-style wooden steamer is made purely with traditional joinery techniques to allow the wood to expand and contract freely.

The tongues and grooves are formed using a set of skewed rabbet planes (斜口鉋), in additional to routers.
